Anting – Interactive Video Projection in Philippine Theater
Cultural Center of the Philippines
Digibox collaborated with Ballet Philippines on the video design for Neo-Filipino: Anting, an innovative dance production that merged movement, technology, and Filipino mythology. Under the guidance of BP Artistic Director Paul Alexander Morales, the Digibox team introduced interactive video projection and mapping—marking the first time in Philippine theater that video elements were not only projected but also responded interactively to performers on stage.

Using Isadora, a real-time media manipulation software, alongside an infrared camera, a Wii controller, and a MacBook, the team designed visuals that dynamically reacted to the dancers' movements, transforming the stage into a living, reactive canvas.

In Anting, the projections were an essential part of the performance, helping to convey the supernatural and symbolic elements of the story. The use of projection mapping helped create a more immersive environment, amplifying the visual representation of the anting-anting, the magical amulet central to the show.

Anting also featured playwright Tony Perez's first libretto for dance, with choreography by Paul Alexander Morales, Christine Crame, Gerald Mercado, and Ava Villanueva-Ong. The production explored the mysticism of Filipino talismans ("anting-anting") through dance, sound, and interactive visual media—a compelling fusion of tradition and technology.
