Coco-Biodiesel
The Philippine Initiative: Coco-Biodiesel for a Cleaner Environment
In support of the government's campaign for cleaner air and sustainable economic growth, the Department of Energy (DOE) launched The Philippine Initiative—a program promoting the use of coco-biodiesel under Memorandum Circular No. 55, s. 2004. The circular directed all government agencies and transport operators to blend coconut methyl ester (CME) with diesel fuel, helping reduce harmful emissions while creating new economic opportunities for the country's coconut farmers.
To raise awareness and encourage adoption among jeepney drivers and operators, the DOE commissioned Digibox to produce an audio-visual presentation (AVP) introducing the benefits of coco-biodiesel. Digibox handled the project from scriptwriting and field shooting to post-production, crafting a compelling and informative video that communicated both the environmental and economic advantages of the program.
The AVP, edited by Marinette Lusanta, highlighted real-life stories of jeepney drivers testing coco-biodiesel, showcasing its cleaner performance, fuel efficiency, and contribution to a healthier environment. Through this campaign, the DOE and Digibox worked hand in hand to spread awareness of renewable fuel alternatives and support the broader vision of a cleaner, self-reliant, and economically vibrant Philippines.
